Introduction

Free School Meals are provided to children whose parent(s) receive the following benefits:-

- Income Support
- Income Based Job Seekers Allowance;
- Child Tax Credit, who do not receive a Working Tax Credit and who have an annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) of below £ 16,040;
- Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit with an income below the threshold for receipt of maximum Working Tax Credit, currently set by the UK Government at £ 6,420;
- Support under Part V1 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.

Pupils are eligible for free school meals in their own right if they are aged 16-18 if they are receipt of one of the above benefits.

Claims will not be backdated, and will only come into force once the school has received the assessed form.

Seperate claim forms should be completed if your children attend different schools.
This online form will guide you through completing the relevant parts of the form. You will then need to print it off and send the form to each school along with all relevant evidence. The school will send the form to Greenock BDC, Baird Street, Glasgow, G90 8AZ to confirm your Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance or to the UK Border Agency for Confirmation of your support under the Immigration & Asylum Act.

The Benefits Delivery Centre will forward it onto your school for the Head teacher to complete and retain.
